Volunteer Gardener
The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank welcomes Volunteers to participate in garden activities to support the ongoing development of the Memorial Garden and growing fruit and vegetables for donation to the local food banks.
There will be a range of tasks available throughout the year, which are likely to include:
- Seed sowing
- Weeding
- Pruning
- Planting new flowers and shrubs
- Mulching
- Planting vegetables
- Vegetable picking
- Fruit picking
- Watering
- Maintaining tree stakes and fencing
- Creating new wildlife habitats
More about the Volunteer role:
- No gardening experience is necessary.
- Volunteers can choose from the tasks available on the day, considering what they enjoy and feel comfortable doing.
- Any amount of Volunteering time is welcome, either on a regular or ad-hoc basis
- Volunteers should be friendly and considerate.
- Tools and training are provided
- It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes or wellies, and your own gardening gloves.
Work Experience
We also welcome enquiries from school age students (from age 16) seeking work experience.
