Risborough Rangers: community charity with memorial garden
We’re proud to officially announce a new community partnership between The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank, Risborough Rangers Football Club, and Warranty Solutions Group (WSG). This charity initiative uses football to bring the community together and support families living with grief.
As part of the partnership, Risborough Rangers Football Club has become the official charity partner of The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank, helping us raise awareness of the support available to local families across Princes Risborough and the wider Buckinghamshire community.
At its heart, this partnership is about community, connection, and ensuring that people know they do not have to face difficult moments alone.
Summary
A new partnership between The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank, Risborough Rangers FC, and Warranty Solutions Group brings the community together through football to support families experiencing grief and those facing hardship. The collaboration raises awareness of the garden’s reflective spaces and expands food bank support, with WSG donating £20 per qualifying purchase using code CMG20.
Community events will broaden reach, and future plans focus on accessibility, inclusive wellbeing spaces, and expanded local support; people can help by visiting, volunteering, donating, and sharing awareness.
Community support featured across local media
The partnership has already received strong support across local media, helping raise awareness of the garden and the support available within the community.
Following the launch announcement, the story was featured by Bucks Free Press, highlighting the collaboration between Risborough Rangers Football Club, The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank, and Warranty Solutions Group.
Founder John Colinswood also recently appeared on BBC Three Counties Radio to discuss the inspiration behind the garden, the importance of accessible community support spaces, and the role partnerships like this can play in helping people feel less alone during difficult times.
Every conversation, share, and piece of coverage helps us reach more people who may benefit from the garden and the support available.
Strengthening community connections through sport
As a club deeply rooted within the local football community, Risborough Rangers plays an important role in bringing people together, from young players and families to supporters and local residents.
Through this partnership, the club will help raise awareness of the memorial garden and encourage more people to access the support, reflection, and safe spaces available.
Opportunities such as local tournaments and community events will also help us connect with more people who may not yet know the garden exists for them.
Why the garden exists
The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank was created after witnessing first-hand the devastating and often isolating impact that the loss of a child can have on families.
We wanted to create something different:
not a clinical setting or somewhere overwhelming, but a peaceful and private environment where people could come to remember, reflect, process grief, or simply take a quiet moment away from everyday life.
While the garden was created first and foremost for families remembering a child, it is open to anyone who may need support, comfort, or calm.
That may include:
- Grief and bereavement
- Mental health struggles
- Loss in any form
- Or simply needing somewhere peaceful to sit and breathe
What matters most is that people feel welcome, supported, and free from judgement.
A space designed for reflection and healing
Part of the garden, our secret orchard, draws inspiration from The Secret Garden, a story centred around loss, discovery, hope, and healing.
Through nature, quiet surroundings, and thoughtful design, we hope to provide a place where people can reconnect with themselves and others in a safe and calming environment.
Supporting the wider community
Alongside the garden itself, this community charity initiative also includes our food bank support programme, helping provide fresh produce to local organisations including Wycombe Food Hub and One Can Trust.
This partnership allows us to extend that impact even further into the local community and continue supporting those facing hardship.
Supported by Warranty Solutions Group
We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from Warranty Solutions Group, whose involvement continues to help the garden grow and develop.
As part of the partnership, £20 from every qualifying direct-to-consumer purchase using code CMG20 is donated directly towards supporting the memorial garden and its future development.
Looking ahead
As we continue to grow, our focus remains on making the garden even more accessible and inclusive for the community.
Future plans include raised beds, expanded community support initiatives, and the development of a dedicated indoor space for reflection and wellbeing support.
Partnerships like this play an incredibly important role in helping bring those plans to life.

Q&A

Short answer: It’s a community charity partnership between The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank, Risborough Rangers Football Club, and Warranty Solutions Group (WSG). The goal is to use football’s community reach to support families living with grief and those facing hardship across Princes Risborough and the wider Buckinghamshire area. Risborough Rangers FC is the official charity partner, helping raise awareness and connect more people to the garden’s reflective spaces and support. WSG provides ongoing backing, including donations that fund the garden’s development.
Question: Is the Children’s Memorial Garden only for families who have lost a child?
Short answer: No. While the garden was created first and foremost for families remembering a child, it is open to anyone who may need support, comfort, or calm. People come for many reasons, including grief and bereavement, mental health struggles, loss in any form, or simply needing a peaceful place to sit and breathe. The space—featuring areas like the “secret orchard” inspired by The Secret Garden—is designed to be welcoming, reflective, and non-judgemental.
Question: How will football and club activities help the garden and local community?
Short answer: As a club embedded in the local community, Risborough Rangers brings together young players, families, supporters, and residents. Question: How does the food bank support fit into the initiative, and how can I help fund the garden?
Short answer: Alongside the garden, the initiative supports a food bank programme that provides fresh produce to local organisations, including Wycombe Food Hub and One Can Trust, extending help to those facing hardship. You can directly fund the garden’s work through WSG: £20 from every qualifying direct-to-consumer purchase using code CMG20 is donated to the memorial garden and its future development. You can also support by visiting, volunteering, donating, sharing awareness, and helping someone who might benefit discover the space.
Question: What are the future plans for the garden, and how will the partnership help achieve them?
Short answer: The focus is on greater accessibility and inclusion, with plans for raised beds, expanded community support initiatives, and a dedicated indoor space for reflection and wellbeing support.
