The Children’s Memorial Gardens Blog / News

In addition to the extensive tree and shrub planting we’ve done at the Children’s Memorial Gardens so far, this Spring we planted up raised beds in order to start growing vegetables, as we hoped to help supply foodbanks in the local area.

On Friday morning 16th July, Tom, our head gardener and Tracy, a volunteer, harvested our first fresh produce from the Gardens to take to the Baptist Church at Princes Risborough.

Our first contribution consisted of five bags of potatoes and ten bags of lettuce to help some of the families that currently live on the breadline in the Princes Risborough and Longwick areas.

We hope to harvest more vegetables and soft fruit such as courgettes, carrots and raspberries during the rest of the summer and, as our fruit trees begin to crop this autumn, we hope that they too can help stock the Princes Risborough foodbank to help even more families.
