Helen and Natalie represented The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank at the recent Princes Risborough Christmas Lights Switch-On, bringing festive cheer (and a lot of pink!) to the High Street.
Despite torrential rain earlier in the day, the skies thankfully brightened just in time for the event, and the town turned out in brilliant numbers to enjoy the festivities. From twinkling lights to Christmas music and smiling faces, it was wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate the start of the festive season.
Our stall was full of warmth and creativity, showcasing home-grown and handcrafted Christmas wreaths, lovingly made by volunteers, alongside volunteer-made crochet vegetables, a children’s lucky dip, and our ever-popular ‘Name the Teddy’ raffle.
We’re delighted to share that the winning teddy bear name was “Harry”, a raffle that brought smiles all round and proved especially popular with our younger visitors.
Events like this highlight the power of community spirit. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by the stall, donated, had a chat, or showed support for the Gardens and Food Bank, every contribution helps us continue providing a special place of remembrance, love, and support for families.
A huge thank you to Natalie and Helen for giving their time, energy, and festive sparkle, and to Princes Risborough Town Council for hosting such a lovely community event.
Thank you for helping us make this Christmas a little brighter for others.
As the festive season approaches, we also recognise that this time of year can be especially difficult for many families. Shorter days, colder weather, and Christmas traditions can bring complex emotions, particularly for those navigating grief or missing loved ones.
The Children’s Memorial Garden & Food Bank is here all year round as a calm, welcoming space to pause, reflect, and feel close to your child, whether through quiet moments, saying their name, or simply being present in nature. There is no right or wrong way to visit, and no expectation beyond what feels right for you.
If you or someone you know may benefit from visiting the Gardens during the winter months, please know that you are always welcome. We are here to offer comfort, connection, and support, especially at times when it’s needed most.
You are not alone.
